Hong Kong’s population has grown 2.1% on the year to almost 7.5 million people, as arrivals from mainland China and elsewhere after the pandemic helped reverse a decline that started in 2020, as reported by Nikkei. HK population reached 7,498,100 as of the end of June, according to new demographics data from the government. A net inflow of 174 000 Hong Kong residents were recorded during the period, with an inflow of 31 000 One-way Permit holders and a net inflow of 143, 000 other Hong Kong residents. The latest June figure brings Hong Kong’s population back to the same level as the end of 2019.
